What Is Coronavirus: Learn its symptoms and more

Coronavirus, a new disease spread in China, has killed more than hundreds of people and infected thousands worldwide. At the same time, in dealing with the spread of this deadly virus in the neighboring country, the Indian government has already begun preparations to stop the spread of the virus. However, no cases of infection have been reported so far. The World Health Organization says that the threat of this new coronavirus pandemic is for everyone, although a public health emergency has not yet been declared in view of international concern.

What is the coronavirus?

The Wuhan coronavirus, a part of the virus family, is named after an effect created by the spike protein in its sphere or capsid. This is like the outer layer of the Sun’s atmosphere, known as the corona, which appears during a complete solar eclipse.

According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Seven forms of coronavirus infect people. These include the new 2019 coronavirus, in addition to which the virus spreading Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-COV (Coronavirus)) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-COV) have killed hundreds of people.

The coronavirus is transmitted from animals to humans. While China says that the new 2019 coronavirus spreads from person to person.

Where did it start

The start of the coronavirus is related to the Huanan seafood market in Wuhan, China, where wildlife is being sold illegally. Be aware that the coronavirus initially spreads from animals to humans. On January 26, China imposed a nationwide ban on the sale of wildlife in markets, supermarkets, restaurants, and e-commerce sites.

Symptoms of coronavirus infections

According to the World Health Organization, the symptoms of coronavirus infection depend on the type of virus, but common signs include:

  • Breathing problems.
  • Fever.
  • Cough.
  • Short of breath.

Severe infection can cause a condition like pneumonia, and this condition can also lead to death. Speaking about the new 2019 coronavirus, it was detected by Chinese health authorities after the case of a mysterious pneumonia in Hubei.

The WHO has published a complete list of clinical syndromes associated with new coronavirus infections.

At the same time, India recently requested medical help from sick citizens who returned from a trip to China in a month. Along with this, the government has also asked citizens to follow the WHO guidelines. In addition to this, the government has also prohibited citizens from making non-essential travel to China.

How dangerous is the Wuhan coronavirus?

The World Health Organization described the 2019 Global Risk Assessment for Coronavirus as ‘high’. For China, the epicenter of this epidemic is “very high”. However, the organization has yet to declare the virus as a ‘Public Health Emergency of International Concern’, similar to the Ebola outbreak in the Congo last year.

So far, more than 100 people have died from this virus, and all deaths have occurred in China. More than 2,800 infected people have been found on another continent. In such a short time, a large number of people have not been affected by any virus.

Very few people know about the new coronavirus. China has also confirmed the transmission of this virus from person to person and has stated that the virus becomes effective within 1-14 days of infection. In other words, if you are infected with this virus, the first symptoms appear in 1 to 14 days.

So far, the malignancy rate of the new 2019 coronavirus is lower than that of the SARS virus, but it appears to be spreading very fast.

Scientists identified the genetic code for the new 2019 Coronavirus, due to which scientists were able to work on the vaccine. However, there is currently no one for the specific treatment of this infection.

Researchers in Hong Kong have reportedly developed a vaccine for new coronaviruses. Yuen Kwok Yung, an infection expert and professor at the University of Hong Kong, told the South China Morning Post that his team is working on the vaccine. He said we have made the vaccine but it will take a little longer to control the animals. However, they have not given any exact time when they will be ready for patients.

The WHO recommends taking into account the different types of protection to treat coronaviruses, which are the following:

Wash hands frequently. Soap and water to wash your hands.
